Rej ap Gwynedd

"It has a very tight, present sound and is extremely comfortable to play"

Rej ap Gwynedd
We first met Rej when he was playing with Natalie Imbruglia and built him a G3 Four with twin humbucking Gus Tube pickups (the first G3 configured to this specification). This bright orange metallic instrument soon became his 'Torn' bass and travelled the world pumping out Imbruglia's hits.

Rej and his brother Pere (who plays a Gus G1 Vibrato) have provided guitar and bass duties to a good number of name artists, including recently Sophie Ellis Bextor and briefly Skin (ex. Skunk Anansie). Rej has also featured heavily in Apollo 440 over the years, joining them back in 1997 when they first decided to put a live band together. As you can tell from the range of artists juxtaposed in these few sentences, it's clear that Rej is a highly adaptable player, capable of turning his hand to everything from Pop and Rock through to Drum 'n' Bass! When we interviewed him for 'GusGoss' a few years back, I remember quizzing him about this spread of styles. His reply explained it all really - "My taste in music is as varied as it gets. To me there are only two kinds of music - good and bad!"
